After conversion a person is given a new nature. This is contradistinction to the old nature that exists, and rules a person, prior to conversion. After being “born again” a person has a dual nature, old and new, which are in opposition to each other.
Please note that in this encyclopedia, and in New Day Monk thinking, “conversion” can be an adult, conscious, (Protestant Evangelical) experience or, it can occur without such an adult event. Many Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and mainline Protestant individuals have faith in Jesus, are trusting and obeying Him, and are thus “born again.” They are “converted” and are children of God and (since they consequently have a new nature) have a dual nature. They just don’t know exactly when they started believing.
Romans 8. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did….both condemning sin in the flesh…and giving us His Spirit…so that we can walk in the Spirit…for if you live after the flesh, you will die: but if, through the Spirit, you mortify the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
2 Peter 1:4. God has given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these you might be a partaker of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through the lust of the flesh.
Ephesians: I pray that God will give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power towards us who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come, and has put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things in the church, which is his body, the fullness of him that fills all in all……….and made you alive, who were previously dead in trespasses and sins; wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience. We all, in times past, acted according to lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and mind. We were by nature the children of wrath, just like everyone else. But God, who is rich in mercy, because He loved us even when we were dead in sins, has quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved); and has raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 5:16-17: “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh; for these are opposed to each other, to prevent you from doing what you would”.
